Heron Happenings – Oct.14-19

We have finished the first nine weeks and completed midterms this past week! Report cards will be given to students on Friday during homeroom. Please make sure that you ask your child about their report card on Friday. You can also continually keep an eye on their grades throughout the semester by getting access to their powerschool.

Our Lady Herons won the first round of the state playoffs and will host Jefferson on Wednesday for a doubleheader and the ‘if’ game on Thursday. Please come support our Lady Herons!

Our boys cross country team competed at Disney World on Friday and had a great time!

Our football team had a rough night at Pierce County, but are looking to bounce back against Tattnall on Friday night – at Caney Bay stadium! Please come support our boys!

Our CTSO’s (clubs) attended and competed at the Perry Fair this week! Our FFA students competed in the hog show. Mattie Davis finished 3rd in her class and Kaitlyn White won her class in commercial gilt!

It has been a busy week at BCHS! Students are preparing for midterms which will be this week (Wednesday and Thursday). Please make sure that if you have concerns about your students grades that you contact their teachers ASAP.

Our Lady Heron Softball team won the region championship this week with a 3-1 win in the championship game over Pierce County. Both teams played a great game!

The Heron football team had a tough loss at McIntosh Academy, but we are excited about region play and looking to make the playoffs! Please continue to support our boys, band members, cheerleaders, and ROTC members!

Our Chorus has their first concert on Tuesday night.

Heron Happenings- Sept 30- Oct 5

Homecoming week is always a great time!! It seems that the week speeds by before we know it!! The dance was amazing!!!

Our cross country team has had a good week fo practice and are gearing up for the region meet in a few weeks! Their times are getting better every week!

Lady Heron softball will host Tattnall at home on Monday!! The region tournament will be at BCHS on Thursday!!! Proud of our girls!!

Friday night lights were pumping with a HUGE homecoming win Friday night!!! It was the best crowd that I have been apart of since I came to Brantley! Our boys showed so much grit Friday night! The band and cheerleaders did a great job keeping the crowd engaged!!

Softball and cross country has busy weeks!! Our clubs have started full blast and the first progress reports have been sent home!! The school year is in full blast!

Homecoming week is upon us!! We hope all our students will participate in dress up days and attend the game and dance next Friday and Saturday night!!

Softball will have senior night on Tuesday at home vs Liberty County!! We are hoping to win the doubleheader on Tuesday and host the region tournament!!!

Our softball team did great this week winning all three games! Our JV football team won 7-0 on Thursday and the varsity team came up just short on Friday night, but it was a great game! Our cross country boys placed 7th out of 19 and Sean Altamirano finished with the top time of 19:12.

I wanted to remind everyone that we have changed Oct. 11 to a student day!

Monday night this week we will have Senior Night at 6:00 with lots of colleges and military recruiters on hand to assist! There will be some give-aways as well!

Heron Happenings – Sept. 9- 14

We hope that everyone was able to stay safe during the passing of Hurricane Dorian. I pray that we don’t have anymore hurricanes come through for the remainder of the season.

Our athletic teams did not compete for most of the week due to the weather, but our football team did come up with a big win on Friday night against Atkinson County. It is the first time in a decade that BCHS started the season 2-0. Come support the boys on Friday night at home to Jeff Davis!

On Saturday our FFA hosted a very successful hog show at the Ag barn! They had a huge turnout!

Heron Happenings – Sept. 2-7

Reminder that we do not have school on Monday, it is Labor Day.

We have had a great week at BCHS. We had our first pep rally and the student body really enjoyed it and showed great school spirit! We also voted on the homecoming court, which will be announced in the near future.

Students grades are in full blast. Please make sure that you have access to your students Powerschool information so you can track their grades and also to our school app to receive updates from the school system. Progress reports go out this Friday! 

Our cross country team has been working hard this week to prepare for the season!

Our softball team dropped their second game of the season to Camden County this week, but they won both their region games this week! The Lady Herons are 4-0 in region play!

Our football team beat Charlton County 34-16 on Friday night for a big opening win! Our players work in the weight room really showed on Friday night!

Heron Happenings – August 26 – 31

We have had a great week at BCHS! Our clubs are in full swing and meetings have started! I hope that all students will find a club to join this school year!

Our football team was off this week and the cross country team finished 6th out of 9 team at their first meet. Great job to our Cross Country team.

Our softball team won all three games this week with two HUGE region wins against Tattnall and Pierce! We have a busy week of sports at BCHS, please see the day to day activities below for our athletic events this week!

Our students have started their test and will be full blast in their curriculums. We hope that your students are studying and staying on top of their studies.

Please encourage your students to get to school on time and to get to class on time!

Heron Happenings – August 19-24

We had a great first full week at BCHS! Students schedules were finalized and we are getting the grove of our classwork. Please make sure that you have your students information for the new APP that links to powerschool and other events at BCHS! This will be a great way for you to receive communication from the school and to keep an eye on your students grades and attendance.

We greatly appreciate our student resource officers and their continued efforts to keep our campus safe and secure. The maintainence department is currently working to complete the entry control point building at the middle school entrance and we hope to have that complete in the next handful of weeks.

Our softball team won their games this week and played three games on Saturday, where they won 2 and dropped 1. Our football team play 6:26 on Friday night and had an impressive scoring drive before have the game cancelled due to possible lightning in the area. Our cross country team will be up and going this week and we know they will have a wonderful season!

I would like to continue to encourage your student to get involved in a club… the graduate rate is much higher for students involved in an extra curricular activity than those that are not.

We will have Junior ring deliver on Wednesday morning at BCHS! We appreciate all the efforts of Herff Jones and their associates for their continued support of our students!

Heron Happenings – Aug.12-17

We had a great start to the school year! We were able to meet with all students and get most schedule changes fixed! Our new safety measures have been implemented and have worked wonderful throughout the first three days of school!

Our softball team had their game on Monday cancelled due to weather, but they went to Douglas on Tuesday and got a big 4-1 win against a 6A team and they won 7-0 in their home opener on Thursday against Brunswick!

Our club leaders will be starting their meetings in the near future and we highly recommend that students get involved in an extra-curricular activity. The graduation rate statewide of a students involved in an activity is 99% verse the mid 80%.

Our football team is practicing hard as well as the band for their first game on Friday night in Alma!
