Heron Happenings- Nov 11-16

What a great week we had at BCHS!! Lots of student success in and out of the classroom! Mr. Thrift’s engineering class is innovating for their completions, Mr. Winder’s AV class is creating the news, Mrs. Hunnicutt’s class is learning about childcare, Ms. Johns is teaching students cooking skills, our healthcare classes are getting kids prepared, and our FFA students were out surveying the landscapes around the school as well as working in the wood-shop!

I would like to encourage anyone in the system to contact Mr. Gibson about possible Christmas gifts… his class can creating products with our sublimation machine!!

Our students are working hard in their academic classes and their progress reports will go home on Wednesday of this week!!

The basketball team has begun practice and the band finished up their competition season on Saturday!!

Heron Happenings – Nov. 4 – 9

We had a busy week at BCHS. Our students  are working hard in their classes and continue to progress toward finishing this semesters credits! Please encourage your child to finish the semester strong!

Our FFA sent the state champion Environmental and Natural Resource team, lead by Mr. Richard Gill, up to Indianapolis to compete for a National Championship. While the team did not finish 1st in the nation they did finish 3rd — which is the second highest in school history! Last year the Poultry team, lead by Mrs. Chad Crews, finished 5th in the country. In the mid 90’s Mr. Gill took a team to the national convention and they won 1st place! The BCHS FFA continues to impress under the leadership of both Mr. Gill and Mr. Crews!

Our cross country team competed at the state tournament on Saturday! They did compete well and represented BCHS in a positive manner. It is not often that our boys and girls teams both make it to the state tournament. Coach Clay Johns and his assistants have done a tremendous job preparing our athletes.

The football lost a hard fought game against Liberty on Friday night. We are playing a Long County on Friday night in Ludowici… if we win the game we are in the playoffs for the 3rd time in school history and will finish the regular season at 5-5! We are really proud of Coach Geoff Cannon and his assistants for the job they have done this year!

Our BCHS basketball teams will have their first scrimmage this week at Glynn Academy!
