Weekly Update – Sept. 23-30

The previous week was extremely busy, but really rewarding. Our students got back into the swing of class and are moving forward with learning the needed materials! The leadership team met this week and decided to forgo the midterms this semester, but we will give a practice test in our EOC courses that will be aligned to the standard/element the week after Thanksgiving. Teachers will use this time to re-teach the standards that students are struggling with.

The school board has been gracious enough to allow us to have an extra day and a half to allow our EOC teachers more time to get the standards taught prior to the state mandated testing. October 10th will now be a student day and December 20th will be a full student day. EOC dates are Dec. 13-19

Our softball team clinched 2nd place in the regular season and will host the first round of the region playoff on Sept. 29 (two games) and Oct. 1 (if needed). Senior night will start on Monday, Sept. 25 at 5:00 PM with the game at 6:00 PM. Please come support our Seniors!

Our Heron football boys fought hard and came up short on Friday night. The JV football team lost to Brunswick, but had lots of positives. The cheer girls are competing today at West Lauren’s high school.

The FFA cooked some amazing smoked pork chops on Friday to support their club!

In the month of August, our Work Based Learning students (42 of them) worked a total of 5154 hours and grossed $37,822.97! That is awesome for both our students and their employers. Thanks to all our employers for supporting BCHS students!!! Thanks to Dr. Andrea Tanner for all her hard work with this group of students!

Huge thanks to Mrs. Lori McNease and all our colleges and representatives for their support at Senior Night on Monday… what a great event it was!!

We had a drawing with our Connect 2019 students on Friday for those with good attendance and Mrs. Sheron Brooker does a great job leading this initiative.

Homecoming is just around the corner, we are asking the entire community to get behind the 50th year celebration, which includes lots of fun activities, such as; parade, honoring former players, dance (for students), football game, and then a community event for all former graduates! It will be fun for all and lots of memories made and reminiscencing of old ones!
