Below is an email that Mrs. McNease sent to all seniors:
Don’t forget the Georgia Tech college representative will be here at our school tomorrow at 12:30pm. If you would like to meet with him to get more information about Georgia Tech and the admissions process, please let me know ASAP or sign up outside of the Guidance Office on 1st hall on the clipboard located on the white table.
Next SAT is October 7th. Register at sat.collegeboard.org by September 8th to avoid late fees.
Next ACT is October 28th. Register at actstudent.org by September 22nd to avoid late fees.
Both test are given at Ware Co High and Glynn Academy. Pierce Co High also gives the ACT, but NOT the SAT.
The first time you take one, sign up with the essay. After you take the essay one time, there is no need to continue taking it with the essay and it is cheaper.
Excellent SAT practice can be found at khanacademy.org (free practice website).
You can also find SAT and ACT practice on usatestprep.com we use here at the school. It is located in the top right hand corner once you log in.
We had a wonderful week at Brantley County High School. Our students are getting into the grove in their classes — test, quizzes, and projects are in full blast! Parents, if you are not signed up for Student Portal in PowerSchool to access your students grades then please let their homeroom teacher know ASAP, so we can get you that information. We want to make sure that everyone is fully aware of what is going on with their child!
Our softball girls are now 4-2 (1-1 in the region), JV football lost a hard fought game to Appling County, cross country team had their first meet Thursday, and the football team played a great game on Friday (despite going down to Charlton County). Some of our FFA students were in Florida showing their hogs on Saturday!
BCHS was excited to have Jacee Beth Thomas and her family on campus for a community visitation on Thursday evening. It was a blessing to see how amazing this community is and how Brantley County sticks together through thick and thin!

We had an eventful week at BCHS. Our students are settling into their classes, relationships are being built, and extra-curricular groups are in full swing! The FCA had a great meeting on Friday morning, the FFA had a successful pork chop sale Friday, and FBLA is in full swing with plans for the upcoming year. There are many other groups on campus that have also started their meetings and plans for the year — we hope that our students are able to find a group that they can get involved in! We also had a great week in athletics; the softball girls are 3-1 (1-0 in region) and the football team played a hard fought game against McIntosh Academcy (state runner-up last year) losing 6-14. Our cheerleaders and band did a great job keeping the crowd engaged as well! We also had our first pep rally on Friday and the student body had a blast!

We are hoping that everyone got in the classes needed/desired and that everyone has a success school year! The faculty and staff are really excited that the kids are back on campus!!! Helping them be successful is what makes us educators happy!
This week in athletics saw the Varsity softball girls go 1-1 against some larger schools and the JV girls winning 14-0. The band had their kickoff at the stadium on Thursday night and the football team and cheerleaders were in Clinch County on Friday night for a scrimmage! We had an amazing Open House and New to the Nest event last night. Thanks to all the parents and students that came out and met their teachers!
I am excited about getting the students back in the building and working to build relationships with each of them as well as helping them grow academically, socially, and morally. One thing I want to encourage each student to do this school term is to get involved in some organization, whether it be sports, clubs, band, or any other extra-curriucular group on campus. Students that get involved in these types of activities are more likely to find success during their high school careers. We have a plethora of groups, so finding one that suits your likes should be possible. If you are uncertain about the clubs or activities please talk to your homeroom teacher about the offerings at the school!
