What an awesome week! I traveled to Peachtree City, GA with several Brantley County Principals, both incoming Assistant Superintendents, and Superintendent Dr. Kim Morgan to attend the Griffin RESA Leadership Conference. We were able to learn from some of the best educators throughout the country, including Peter Dewitt, Phil Hartley, Bryan Goodwin, NASSP National Principal of the Year, Georgia Principal of the Year, NASSP Assistant Principal of the Year, and many other great educational leaders throughout the state of Georgia. I learned many innovative educational practices that I brought back and discussed with the administrative team at BCHS.
I spent my first official day at the school on Wednesday and was able to meet several of the staff members at the ‘Meet and Greet’ breakfast hosted by Dr. Morgan, Mrs. Tumlin, and the administrative team. Staff members were already at school learning about reading and writing in the content, so it worked out to be a great opportunity to meet the staff and see them in action during professional learning!
The dedication of BCHS teachers has already impressed me and coupled with the amazing support of the office staff and administrative team, I can tell this is going to be a great year!. We have not wasted any time moving forward and planning for the 2017-2018 school year!
Please keep an eye on this blog, social media, local newspaper, and PowerSchool shout-out for information throughout the summer. We are planning to offer parking passes prior to school starting and will send out that information once the details are finalized. Fall athletic teams are also gearing up for a their seasons – lots of great things in the works for Heron Nation!
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school or email any administrator for assistance!
